Welcome to Arrow Lodge Motel, Ngaruawahia

This is a small, friendly motel with 10 ground-floor units, which catch the afternoon sun. We are close to State Highway 1 and easy to find. Because we are down a side street, all the noise and bustle is left behind. We are located near the shopping centre of our little town, so everything is within walking distance: supermarket, banks, internet cafe, post office, churches and halls.

We are owner-operated, which means that we take care of everything including cleaning and maintenance, so everything is as good as we can possibly make it.

Note that our accessible units are wheelchair-friendly, as required by law.

General information about the town

The town of Ngaruawahia is one of the oldest in New Zealand. Its wide streets are graced with many old villas and enormous tress. The town was to have been the capital and the main streets were named after famous astronomers like Gallileo, Newton and Herschell. The motel owner's house was built before the 1900 for the military. The house overlooks the mighty Waikato River and guests are encouraged to stroll down to the river and follow the walkway to the meeting of the two rivers - the Waikato and the Waipa. Here they will find a bandstrand, a children's playground and a petonque area. Of tremendous importance to the town is the presence of the Turangawaiwai Marae, which has the official residence of the Maori King. Many important functions are held here every year, including the Regatta in March and the anniversary of the Coronation in August.
